History

The hospital was opened in 1961 as Lakewood General, and became part of the Franciscan Health System in 1990 when its name was also changed to St. Clare Hospital.

St. Clare Specialty Center, which opened in 2005 and is connected to St. Clare Hospital, houses physicians’ offices, diagnostic imaging, outpatient rehabilitation, and a variety of services for patients who require care for cancer and other conditions.

Volumes

In fiscal year 2008 (July 2007–June 2008), St. Clare Hospital admitted 6,995 patients; handled 48,363 patient visits to its Emergency Department; and received 26,114 outpatient visits.
