History and anniversary

On August 12, 2010, Southgate celebrated the 40th anniversary of its opening, When the centre opened with Woodwards, Woodwards Food Floor and The Bay it was at the time the largest shopping centre west of Toronto and the first centre built in Alberta that housed two anchor department stores.
