 and particularly North Norway. To people from the latter region in particular, citizens hailing from the southern third are known as "søringer" (southerners). The inhabitants themselves, however, have no common "southern" identity. Rather, they identify with the regions they are from and call themselves "vestlendinger", "østlendinger" and "sørlendinger".

South Norway must not be confused with Sørlandet
