In Silemani(Sulaymaniyah), the Ottoman Empire had created a secondary school (Rushdíye), the graduates from which could go to Istanbul

Since the the fall of the Bathist regime in Iraq, there has been more opportunity to publish work in the Kurdish language In Iraq than in any other countries in recent times. as a result Sorani Kurdish has become the dominant written form of Kurdish.
