Sikandar Sultan

Sikandar Sultan was born in Karachi and educated at St Patrick's High School, Karachi and Saint Patrick's College, Karachi. He initially chose media as a profession and made commercial films and advertisements and arranged exhibitions.

In 1981 he turned to making spices. He converted the servant quarters of his home in Karachi into an office and did test marketing just before a major festival with just three spice mixtures. In 2008, with over 100 products being exported to 52 countries, the brand leads the food industry. Annual revenues exceed Rs 1.5 billion and the company has a 50 per cent market share. A love for food and a religious upbringing is what is behind the internationally famous Shan Foods’ magic blend that has made his business what it is today.

Sikandar Sultan is today Managing Director of Shan Food Industries. He took his first trip to India in 2008, when Shan Food Industries participated in the `Made in Pakistan' exhibition held in New Delhi. The aim of participating was to further cultural links between the two countries.
