Present

Siglap is a luxury residential area on the east of Singapore where most live in landed homes such as freehold semi-detached houses and bungalows. Most Singaporeans live in leasehold public housing called HDB flats. One luxurious stretch of Siglap is Frankel Estate, which consists entirely of bungalows.

The area near Siglap Centre has been redeveloped into serviced apartments and luxury condominiums housing expatriates. It is a more mature estate and preferred over Holland Village for coupled or family-oriented expatriates due to the exclusive, private residential area. Recent news articles about how "heartlanders" have invaded Holland Village, together with the Orchard redevelopment projects, have moved some members of the expatriate community to Siglap.

Siglap has two community centres: 'Siglap Community Centre' and 'Siglap South Community Centre'. East Coast Road and Upper East Coast Road are lined with several restaurants, food courts and shops.
