The station was originally built in 1936 by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad. An additional station was built by the NY&NH on Buckland Road the same year, which is now a private business. Currently it is the only public transportation in the Sharon area, as there are no public bus lines in Sharon. The station has parking (for a fee) and bike racks.
