Seth M.R. Jaipuria School, otherwise known as the Jaipuria School of Lucknow is a co-educational institution imparting Pre-primary, Primary, Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (age group 3 plus to 17 plus) through English as the medium of instruction. The school has been ranked 9th in the "most respected secondary schools" in India in 2007.

History

The school draws its name from Padmabhooshan Seth Mungtu Ram Jaipuria, a philanthropist and industrialist who played a dominant role in the industrialisation of the nation after independence. Founded by his son, Dr. Rajaram Jaipuria in 1992, the school is run under the aegis of Integral Education Society, Kanpur.

Organization

Shri Sharad Jaipuria, Chairman and Managing Director of Ginni International Ltd. New Delhi is the Chairman of the school. The management of the School comes under the purview of Integral Education Society, Kanpur of which he is the President. Another institution managed by the Integral Education society, is Jaipuria Institute of Management and this functions on the same campus.

The first principal of the institution was Mr. P. Arvindakshan (1992-2009). The principal is Mrs. Anju Wal. The Vice Principal is Mr. K Lakhtakia. Mrs. Shalini Sinha is a special administrative officer.

House system

The children are divided into four houses - Ganga (red), Narmada (blue), Krishna (green) and Godavari (yellow). Inter-house competitions are held, like debate, elocution, creative writing, athletics, sports and the PT drill competition. At the end of the year, the house with the maximum number of points is awarded the Jaipuria trophy(also known as the house trophy). The house trophy for the academic session 2010-2011 went to the Godavari house.
