History

The kibbutz was founded in 1966, and was named after Yitzhak Dubno (nicknamed Yoav) who was killed whilst defending the nearby kibbutz of Negba

. Near Sde Yoav there was an Arab village called Iraq Suwaydan which was depopulated in the 1948. In 2006 it had a population of 210.
