Driscoll was reported to have been approached by the Liberal National Party of Queensland regarding running for election at the federal election in 2010, but declined.

He currently is and formerly has sat on various government steering committees, advocating on behalf of his members and the broader retail and small business community in Australia.

Controversy

Driscoll attracted some controversy in 2009, when he suggested on a talkback radio program that burqas and hijabs be banned from specific retail precincts, including banks, for security and identification purposes.
