A scientific instrument is an apparatus or equipment used to collect datas in a scientific domain.
The scientific instruments are part of a laboratory equipment, but are considered larger or more sophisticated than other measuring instruments. It is coupled with any kind of data logger, which is more and more often a computer.
Some scentific instruments can be quite large in size, like the large particles colliders or the radiotelescope antennas used in physics.
Scientific instruments can be found onboard sounding rockets, satellites or planetary rovers and controlled by radiotelecommunication.
