when singer Tarin Kerrey began writing songs for what was intended to be a modern progressive rock band. She was joined first by guitarist Duncan Jones and quickly after by a second guitarist and songwriter, Nick Magee. The band then auditioned and recruited drummer Matt Feld and bassist Tom Sherwood.

Sanguine’s sound changed significantly during the early stages of song writing and Duncan left as the band began to show increasing tendencies towards a heavier sound, particularly influenced by the major trends of 90’s alt-metal. The existing live song set was entirely rewritten and a new set first played in the summer of 2005, marking the true beginning of the band as it exists now.

Press Coverage

A review by The Cornish Guardian of Sanguine's first live performance as a four piece said: “A truly mind-blowing…alternative rock/metal outfit who stormed through a sensational set…Sanguine are going to be huge there is no doubt about that, so check them out before they take off to the big time.”

Their first demo "No Cure" was released in 2006, Rocksound magazine said:
"After just one listen to Sanguine's demo No Cure it becomes clear that this female-fronted alt-metal outfit are set for big things. Heavy yet commercial, it's a slick sound that bodes well for the future. 8/10"

During touring in 2007 Sanguine were reviewed by Rocksound who reported on their live shows:
"An outburst of female fronted aggro kicks off the evening at the Camden Barfly as Sanguine set the stage for a metallic night. It's easy to see why their myspace page boasts praise from Slipknot's Joey Jordison. 9/10"
