. After 13 games, head coach Smokey Gaines was replaced by former NBA star Jeff Malone, and as a condition of taking the job Malone insisted on the team cutting ties with Percy Miller. The following season, the team returned to San Diego under the name, San Diego Wildfire

The San Diego Stingrays had a dance team as well that participated in several community events. They were led by Director, Demilo Young and Sheila Christensen.
