is a city located in Oita Prefecture, Japan.
As of 2003, the former city had an estimated population of 49,183 and the density of 249.19 persons per kmē. The total area was 197.37 kmē.
From April 2005, The city and it's surrounding villages and towns has mergedinto a new Saiki City. As of 2008, the new city has an estimated population of 78,069. And a total area of 903.44 km2, makes it the second largest city by area in Kyushu.
The city was founded on April 29, 1941.
