Cho arrived in the United States in 1958 creating many schools across the nation. It is thought that he opened the first permanent tae kwon do school in the United States in 1961. He was the head of the All American Tae Kwon Do/ Karate/ Kung Fu Tournament. This tournament was held for many years at Madison Square Garden
