Geography

Rüderswil has an area, , of 17.17 km² (6.6 sq mi). Of this area, 11.7 km² (4.5 sq mi) or 68.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 4.07 km² (1.6 sq mi) or 23.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.24 km² (0.478766676654743 sq mi) or 7.2% is settled (buildings or roads), 0.17 km² (0.065637366960731 sq mi) or 1.0% is either rivers or lakes.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 4.1% and transportation infrastructure made up 2.7%. 21.8% of the total land area is heavily forested and 1.9% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 29.1% is used for growing crops and 36.9% is pastures, while 2.2% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is in rivers and streams.
