Wahl earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas
in 1946. She received her law degree from William Mitchell College of Law
two decades later, in 1967. From 1967 to 1973, she worked as an Assistant State Public Defender. In 1977, she became the first woman to serve on the Minnesota Supreme Court
, having been appointed by Governor Rudy Perpich
. She served on the court until her retirement in 1994.
