Ronald Robert "Ron" Harper (born January 12, 1936) is an American television and film actor.
er was born in Turkey Creek in Allegheny County near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Mabel Grace Champion and George Harper. Harper became valedictorian of his senior class and won an academic scholarship to Princeton University in New Jersey, where he supplemented his academic studies by appearing in a number of plays and musical comedies, before moving to New York City, where he studied with Lee Strasberg.
After serving in the United States Navy, Harper returned to New York.

Ronald Robert "Ron" Harper (born January 12, 1936) is an American television and film actor.
Biography
Harper was born in Turkey Creek in Allegheny County near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Mabel Grace Champion and George Harper. Harper became valedictorian of his senior class and won an academic scholarship to Princeton University in New Jersey, where he supplemented his academic studies by appearing in a number of plays and musical comedies, before moving to New York City, where he studied with Lee Strasberg.
After serving in the United States Navy, Harper returned to New York. After several disappointments he earned a job as Paul Newman's understudy in Sweet Bird of Youth. Moving to Hollywood, he co-starred in a succession of six television series during the 1960s and 1970s; (1) 87th Precinct (1961-1962) with Robert Lansing, (2) Wendy and Me (1964-1965), with George Burns, Connie Stevens, J. Pat O'Malley, and James T. Callahan, (3) The Jean Arthur Show, as Paul Marshall, the son of fictitious attorney Patricia Marshall, played by former film star Jean Arthur (1966), (4) Garrison's Gorillas, a World War II drama series (1967-1968) , (5) Planet of the Apes (1974), and (6) the third season of Land of the Lost (1976), as Uncle Jack Marshall. On Generations as Peter Whitmore (1990-1991).
His first role was in 1960 in the NBC western series Tales of Wells Fargo starring Dale Robertson. Steady guest appearances followed during the 1960s, including an appearance on NBC's Laramie. Later, Harper appeared in several soap operas, including the CBS soaps "Where the Heart Is" and "Love of Life" and guest-starred on various television programs during the from the 1970s through 2006. He resides in California, and continues to act. His latest film performance was in Touched (2005).
