he was ordained in 1857. He was Curate
at Rathcooney then Rector
of Christ Church Belfast. When his father became Bishop of Cork
he became his Domestic Chaplain
and later Dean
of its cathedral
. In 1874 he was elevated to the Episcopate as Bishop of Ossory
and four years later on the death of his father succeeded him at Cork
. In 1893 he was elected Archbishop of Armagh
and died in post four years later. .
