Personal life

Forsyth is married and has four children and eight grandchildren. He attended Meadowbank Boys High School.

Ministry

Forsyth was a candidate for the Methodist ministry for a number of years but changed to the Anglican candidature for the ministry in 1972.

In August 2009, Forsyth was reported as part-owning an investment property. Tenants of the property claimed they were living in squalor, while renovations on the property apparently took longer than expected. The tenants took their concerns to the Consumer, Trader and Tenancy Tribunal where conciliation efforts failed. Forsyth described the case as a "small problem". Distinguishing his activities as a landlord from that of himself as Bishop, Forsyth said the case had nothing to do with his position as Bishop of South Sydney.
