River Sherbourne

The River Sherbourne is a river that flows through the centre of the city of Coventry, West Midlands, England.
The source of the river is in the fields of Hawkes End in the Parish of Allesley. From where it flows south continuing through the city centre, where it is mainly culverted, and through the suburb of Whitley. It joins the River Sowe south of the A45 road near Baginton, and eventually flows into the River Avon near Stoneleigh.
The name Sherbourne is said to derive from "Scir Burna"....clear stream.
In 1935 and on eight more recent occasions, the Sherbourne in these upper parts around Allesley, has dried up almost completely.
