Career

Captain of soccer team at Timberline Secondary School. Led team to 2001 to Provincial AAA title and was named tournament MVP. Named British Columbia’s “Soccer Boy”, the province’s top youth honor, in 1997.

He was drafted 10th overall by the Vancouver Whitecaps in the 2007 USL First Division College Draft. He was also drafted 36th overall in the 2007 MLS Supplemental Draft by the Colorado Rapids

Private life

Parents are Kathleen and Kieran O’Neill, four siblings, including a twin brother, Keegan. Suffered a broken neck in a 2002 auto accident; recovered quickly and rejoined national team the following season.
