Inaugurated as the Gulfstream Park Sprint Championship, from 2003-2009 the race was run as the Richter Scale Sprint Handicap in honor the Grade I winner, Richter Scale. http://www.gulfstreampark.com/RACING/NEWS/Press+Releases/Details/Stakes+Schedule.ht It was raced at six furlongs in 1987 and again in 1990. There was no race run in 1973, 1975, 1976, 1978-1980, and 1982.
