Soldiers from 173rd airborne, first infantry division, and fourth infantry division were stationed there for their deployments. A single platoon was sent there and left alone to fend for themselves against everything the taliban had to send at them. Restrepo had no running water and relied on two small generators for power. mail was rare, maybe once every month and that was if the pilots felt like it was safe. all food came in by helicopters. the landing zone was too small to even fit the smallest of helicopters, making it useless.
