The Marine Corps. Was the largest military unit in the ROC military, when General. Chang Kai-Shek had plans to "take back the mainland". Since then the ROCMC has been downsized, since military confliction with the PRC is no longer on the military agenda for the ROC government. Like the Marine Corps. Units in the USMC, the Marine Corps. in Taiwan is still regarded as the most elite fighting force the ROC military has to offer. All soldiers that qualify to serve in the ROCMC usually have "?" (A-Grade) physical testing reports. Although due to the shortening of the mandatory military service in Taiwan, the Marine Corps. has accepted "?" (B-Grade) candidates, usually with specialties.
