Patterson would recall the pressure, commenting: "I can't understand why a certain established UK band would ever want to be on a label when they can sell more the first week on their own than most bands can in a year", on his MySpace page. Meanwhile, rumours spread around some fan boards and websites that Andy Taylor was feeling uncomfortable about the new scenario.

Later, Andy Taylor wrote in his autobiography that the old rivalries between himself, Simon LeBon and Nick Rhodes that began anew during the making of Astronaut had worsened, and that "the album needed more work". Duran Duran eventually decided to scrap the whole result following the acrimonious departure of their guitarist and take their sound in a different direction.

The band kept only three songs written with Timbaland and went on to record an entirely new album titled Red Carpet Massacre

No recordings are known to have leaked, apart from a 26 second clip of the song called Traumatised. (which was posted on youtube on Nov.8/11) and some hopeful press declarations by band members, an official release has been since considered to be extremely unlikely.

But one song (from Reportage) that is a guarantee to come out is the song called "48 hours Later." When Simon was asked if there was any plans to release "Reportage," he responded by saying: "Yes. There's no actual plan, but I would be failing in my duty if I didn't get at least… the song '48 Hours Later', which is sublime. It's one of the best Duran Duran songs I've ever heard. And it would work well with what we're doing now. You could easily have it on All You Need Is Now. There's another one called 'Transcendental Mental' which sounds great. There's another called 'Traumatised' which lyrically isn't as strong, but the melody is great."
