. Originally it was centered in Mysore, but in 1998 the Karnataka State Legislature directed that it be moved to Bangalore. The University runs a course on Health Librarianship.

Testing problems

In 2006, the university was the subject of a government inquiry when evidence was revealed that professors had provided students with copies of a post-graduate entrance exam beforehand. The university had earlier had problems with the same exam when errors in the optical mark recognition

answer sheets of the test were discovered. University students had claimed earlier that same year that the test was unfairly skewed to benefit more privileged students.
