Racing UK Limited was launched as a subscription channel in 2004 with 30 racecourses as shareholders. As Racing UK grew several other business units and joint ventures were developed.

In order to reflect the growing and maturing business, RMG has become the parent company with Racing UK as the principal customer-facing business unit. Racing UK is best-known for its subscription TV Channel broadcasting on Sky, Virgin Media and UPC and offers its broadcasts all year round. The Channel can also choose to broadcast free to air for certain events to a potential audience of some 12 million homes. Racecourse Media Group

Racecourse Media Group Ltd (RMG) is the umbrella organisation for the 30 Racecourses, which holds their interest in Racing UK, Turf TV and GBI Racing. The racecourses (the shareholders) are: Aintree, Ayr, Bangor, Beverley, Carlisle, Cartmel, Catterick Bridge, Cheltenham, Chester, Epsom Downs, Goodwood, Hamilton Park, Haydock Park, Huntingdon, Kempton Park, Ludlow, Market Rasen, Musselburgh, Newbury, Newmarket, Nottingham, Pontefract, Redcar, Salisbury, Sandown Park, Thirsk, Warwick, Wetherby, Wincanton and York.

Channel launch

The channel was originally broadcast as a programming block on Sky Channel 425 (iSport) when it launched on 29 May 2004 with 30 courses signed up. It switched to its new home as a channel in its own right (432) on 1 September 2004.
