History

Hermingilda Garcia Margate, then Division Science Supervisor, conceived the establishment of a science high school in Quezon City. This idea was announced by Alfredo J. Andal, then City Schools Superintendent in the year 1967. Later, in 1997, the city science high school of Quezon City was designated by the Department of Education - National Capital Region as the Regional Science High School for the National Capital Region.

QueSci celebrated its 40th foundation anniversary last September 17, 2007 and named the Administration Building's lobby, the Margate Hall, dedicated to its foundress, the late Hermingilda G. Margate. Her son, Ryan, unveiled the new marker for the building.

Trivia

  • Scientia's date of birth is September 17, 1967.
  • Quesci's very first location was with Judge Juan Luna High School.
  • Quesci's next location was in the present site of Quezon City General Hospital.
  • Quesci became the Regional Science High School on 1997, by DECS Order No. 58 Series 99 and Republic Act 8496.

From 1972-1973, Star Apollo, Gemini and Mercury were the sections (proof is the existing bulletin board located at the Mathay II Building. When Quesci increased its population, Fleming, Pascal and Newton were added. In 1993, as part of DOST's Engineering and Sciences Education Project, Pilot Classes were made (Pilot Class A and B) under the Technology-based Curriculum. In 1996, the two Pilot Sections were renamed Avogadro and Becquerel. Eventually, Avogadro and Becquerel replaced Curie and Darwin as top sections on 2003. Then year 2004, 2 sections were added named Archimedes and Bernoulli. Their curriculum is like the curriculum of Avogadro and Becquerel. Hydrogen, Helium and other elements replaced the sections Avogadro, Becquerel and other scientists this 2009. Hydrogen, Helium, Xenon, Nitrogen, Neon, Fluorine, Krypton are the pilot sections currently this year, 2009, in a newly-implemented heterogeneous sectioning.
  • Leticia L. Lomibao is one of the earliest pioneer teachers who's still in Quesci.
  • Reymundo Madriaga joined the faculty on 1968.
