History

The Quantangshi was imperially commissioned in 1705 CE, although the poems in it date from the time of the Tang Dynasty (approximately 618 to 907). The team charged with collecting the poems was led by Cao Yin (曹寅) and Peng Dingqiu (彭定求). The collection of nearly 50,000 poems by over 2,200 authors was divided into 900 scrolls.
