On August 8, 2007, a large hole and crack in the bus-only lane near the Boulevard des Laurentides (Laval) side of the bridge brought the complete closure, but an inspection concluded that the bridge had no structural problems or damage and was reopened during the same day .

A wooden bridge was built there in 1847.
