History

Pomegranates formed in 2006 with Joey Cook, Isaac Karns, and Jacob Merritt. The band released their first recording, Two Eyes EP, in June 2007. In 2007, Josh Kufeldt joined the band they shortly released their first studio album, Everything is Alive that same year. Many songs from this album remain staples in the current set lists like "In the Kitchen", "Thunder Meadow", and "Appreciations". They went on tour with Javelins, Headlights

The song, "Everybody Come Outside" remains the most popular Pomegranates song to date. After the release of the second album, Kufeldt left the band and was replaced with Daniel Lyon.  was released. Their third album was well received by critics and continued to grow the popularity of the band. One of Us charted at number 5 on the CMJ charts and stayed in the top ten for ever a month . After this, Dan Lyon was replaced by bassist, and friend, Curt Kiser of Enlou. Around each of their three releases they have done a Daytrotter

In 2011 the band hosted a Kickstarter

project to raise money to record a new studio album set for release in 2011 or 2012. They exceeded their goal by raising almost $5000, well over the $2,750 goal. In August, the band released a double EP vinyl called In Your Face, Thieves/Chestnut Attic. The LP is composed of two individula eps. The album gives credit to Caleb Groh with whom they collaborated. Both EPs were recorded at Caleb Groh's house outside of Boston and were written at the same time they were recorded. Both recordings were made using an Mbox and a single condenser microphone and recorded almost entirely live, with only a few overdubs done back in Cincinnati for In Your Face, Thieves. Chad Wahlbrink mixed and mastered both EPs. Chestnut Attic was released digitally in 2010 while on tour. In Your Face, Thieves was given to those who donated to their Kickstarter page. The name comes from October 2010 when thieves stole thousands of dollars of equipment from their van just days before a six week tour. A few pieces of the equipment were found damaged later, some of which was auctioned off through their Kickstarter to raise money to record the new record. The name was to inform the thieves that they can steal their equipment, but never their "creative juices".
