. It is located just 10 km north-west of Chengdu's city centre. The seat of the Pixian County Government is located in Pitong Town (郫筒镇).

Pi County covers an area of 437.5 square kilometres, with a total population of 480,000.

Pi County has over 2300 years of history—it was established by the State of Qin two years after it defeated the State of Shu, in 314 BC. It is famous throughout China for Pixian doubanjiang
