Phenom is a fast electron microscope
Electron microscope
An electron microscope is a type of microscope that uses a beam of electrons to illuminate the specimen and produce a magnified image. Electron microscopes have a greater resolving power than a light-powered optical microscope, because electrons have wavelengths about 100,000 times shorter than...

Scanning electron microscope
A scanning electron microscope is a type of electron microscope that images a sample by scanning it with a high-energy beam of electrons in a raster scan pattern...

(SEM), with unique navigation due to the combination of optical and electron-optical images. Sample loading takes place in 4 seconds (to obtain a CCD overview image for "never lost" navigation) and only 30 seconds into the vacuum part via rapid load-lock technology. The system user interface is controlled with a touch screen. No SEM experience is required for users to achieve magnifications of up to 45,000 times with a resolution of 25 nm.
