The new Pentium Dual-Core processors consume considerably less power (65W) than the Pentium D (95 or 130W). They also only have up to 2MiB L2 Cache memory while the Pentium D has up to 2x2 MiB. Despite these differences the Pentium Dual-Core outperforms the Pentium D in most applications.
