. When he left school he took a college course to do a BTEC 1st Diploma in Science with the intention of becoming a lab technician, but soon realised that this was not a career he wished to pursue.

In 2005 and 2006, McGuinness toured the U.K., performing 108 shows. The Dark Side Tour was his first solo stand-up tour. Whilst on tour, he reprised his role of Lord Love Rocket from award-winning comedy Phoenix Nights.

His other television work includes his own Chuck Stryker: The Unknown Stuntman on E4 which he wrote and starred in alongside Jonathan Wrather and a few other familiar faces. His DVD, Paddy McGuinness: The Dark Side Tour was released in early November and sold over 30,000 copies in its first week. The DVD was filmed at Blackpool Opera House
