Operation (mathematics)
In its simplest meaning in
mathematics and logic, an operation combines two values to produce a third. Examples include
addition,
subtraction, multiplication, division, and
exponentiation. Such operations are often called binary operations. Other operations only involve a single value, for example negation, inversion and taking a square or
square root.
