2010 -Gladstone State High School developed ways of managing the environment better, and in a more sustainable way, by submitting proposals to The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority

Flora and fauna

The vegetation of the island is dominated by dense Pisonia

nest on the island between November and February. Because of these important rookeries the size of nesting populations is monitored on an annual basis.
