The Slab
The Slab is rock ledge, and visual guide for watersports users of the river level and conditions. It is used to measure the water level thus:
- Well beneath the slab - river rocky and unlikely to be navigable without damage to your craft or the environment.
- Slightly below the slab - low/medium levels, runnable and good for beginners on The Loop section.
- Over the slab - high levels, river is fast flowing and more engaging. More difficult for beginners on The Loop section.
- Over the slab, through 3rd arch or up the steps - very high levels to spate. Not recommended for beginners at all, good for intermediate paddlers on The Loop.
