Before they were named the Naranjeros, the team was called the Queliteros, and was a part of the LMP's predecessor, the Sonoran Winter League . The Queliteros won their first title in 1944, and from 1945-1958, they won one more championship titles.Since the founding of the LMP in the 1957-58 season, the Naranjeros have won 15 further titles, making the team the most successful in the league's 50-year history.

The Naranjeros' victory at the 1976 Caribbean Series in Santo Domingo was the first by a Mexican team.
