Courses are calculated in credit hours. Each course carries a certain number of credits that are awarded after the successful completion of that course. Credit hours usually equal the number of hours spent in class per week and also reflect the workload or level of difficulty of a course.
  • Academic Regulations

Academic regulations govern the relationship between the university and its students. These regulations reflects the university’s effort to build reliable students who are fully aware of the academic system implemented in their university and responsible for tracing such regulations throughout their study period at MIU.
  • Graduation

To graduate, a student must pass all required courses and achieve a minimum of 2.00 in both the cumulative and the major GPAs.
  • Honors

Students with a cumulative average of 3.5 or above at graduation are granted a BA/BSc with excellence.

MIU International Collaborations

As part of its continuous endeavor to add an international dimension to its academic excellency, MIU aims to establish ties with different universities around the world. It recognizes the necessity to prepare graduates who are internationally competent communicators, negotiators, teachers, policy-makers, politicians, and entrepreneurs. Hence came the idea of establishing MIU’s International Office that offers cross-cultural programs with various renowned international universities.

International Club

The club was founded in Spring 2006 with the assistance of the International Office to create awareness to the students in different faculties to take the opportunity and travel abroad either to spend a semester or to learn a different language during the summer.

Visiting Professors

Every semester MIU hosts a number of visiting professors from the universities it is affiliated with worldwide. These professors come for short intensive teaching visits to give MIU students the opportunity to be exposed to various teaching methodologies. Internationalization at home is thus achieved and students benefit from this exposure and often receive certificates of attendance.

MIU Support Program For Study Abroad Students

Step-by-step assistance: The international Office assists students from the day they apply, throughout the acceptance process till the day they return.

Language Courses: Language courses are offered for those who are traveling to non-English speaking countries.

Orientation Program: Students traveling abroad are given advice on the experience which they are about to go through. Tips are provided by International Office members and previous exchange students.

MIU Support Program For International Students

Welcome Service: International students are picked up at the airport and are informed of their accommodation arrangements.

Orientation Program: The program aims at introducing them to life in Egypt generally and life at MIU specifically. This takes place throughout the first few days upon arrival by giving the students a tour.

Social Activities: The International Office organizes several events per semester to ensure an active social life for its international students. For example, students are invited to attend the Welcome Party made for freshman students, end of the year party. Students are also invited to participate in the International Day where they represent their country in a one day festival, representing their costumes, food, and culture in a booth designed for them.

Language Program: Interested foreign students who would like to learn the language not only from the books and classes are invited to take part in this program. Foreign students teach their language to MIU students and MIU students in turn teach them the Arabic language.

Amigo Program: Each foreign student has an assigned counter MIU student who takes care of him/her during his/her stay in case of any arising problems and if needed counseling.

Library

The MIU Library was established with the inauguration of the university in 1996. It is divided into two libraries: The main library is located on the fourth floor of the main building; and the scientific library is in the Pharmacy building. The libraries’ mission is to reinforce library collections through the combination of print and electronic resources to keep up the learning experience of students and to increase the capacity of good research. It possesses a collection of books and journals which serves both faculty members and students to meet their needs.
