The current Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Žbogar, has served since 21 Nov 2008. He has served in the Ministry since the late-1980's; his previous appointments include Chargé d'Affairs a.i. and First Secretary, Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia to PR China in Beijing, Deputy Representative of the Republic of Slovenia to the United Nations Security Council, and Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia to the United States.
