 is a department of the Ministry of Environment and it is responsible to implementing the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act in the country.

Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency is an attached department of the Ministry of Environment and responsible to implement the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act, 1997 in the country. An Act to provide for the protection, conservation, rehabilitation and improvement of environment, for the prevention and control of pollution, and promotion of sustainable development. Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency also provides all kind of technical assistance to the Ministry of Environment for formulation of environment policy and programmes.

Pak-EPA in compliance to its mandatory requirement under the Pakistan Environmental Protection Act’s section 6 sub-section (2) clause (a) which is reproduced as below:

“Undertake inquiries or investigation into environmental issues, either of its own accord or upon complaint from any person or organization.”

Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency has established a complaint cell in its organization where complaints from public are received and processed in coordination with Provincial EPA’s.

Pak-EPA has developed a procedure for registration of Environmental Consultants (Individual/Organizations/Multi-Dimensional Organizations), Subject Specialists and Assistant Consultants in order to improve the quality of IEE/EIA reports being produced in Pakistan. This Registration procedure will be finalized keeping in the view the comments received from all the stakeholders.
It is required to please convey your views & comments on the draft Registration Procedure.
