Houston Oilers

Late in the 3rd quarter, Renfro appeared to make a touchdown catch for the Houston Oilers to tie the 1979 AFC Championship game against the Pittsburgh Steelers

, but after the officials huddled together (instant replay did not exist at this time), the catch was ruled incomplete and the Steelers would go on to win 27-13. Replays clearly show that Renfro did get both feet inbounds with control of the football. Challenges based on instant replay would not become a part of the NFL rules until years later. Renfro's nullified catch did, however, get the instant replay process underway.
