s, and quips among others. Some Mickeyisms are simply age-old phrases from unknown authors, which have been borrowed by Redmond. One example is "Katie bar the door," as it is impossible to prove where the saying originated. Others are sayings that are completely original to Redmond, such as "Bingo-Bango!" Redmond himself has said that a number of his sayings are quotes he picked up during his nine year NHL career which was split between the Montreal Canadiens and the Detroit Red Wings(Kulfan). A Detroit Free Press article by Mike Brudenell included this list of Mickeyisms:
  • "Bingo Bango"

  • "Like a lumberjack fighting for the last pork chop"

  • "Holy mackerel!"

  • "He blew a tire."

  • "It's a shooting gallery down there."

  • "Look out!"

  • "He got beat like a rented mule."
