's executive vice president for Downstream, a position he assumed in March 2006. He is responsible for directing the company's worldwide refining, marketing, lubricants, petrochemicals and trading businesses.

Wirth was born in 1960. A native of Golden, Colorado, he graduated from Golden High School

 in 1978 and from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering in 1982. He was an All Conference basketball player in high school, and competed in the Trivia Bowl at the University of Colorado for eight years.

He has also served as president of Marketing for Caltex

 Corp., based in Singapore and responsible for the company's retail, wholesale and aviation fuels marketing businesses across Asia and Africa. He also served on the board of directors for Caltex Australia Ltd. and GS-Caltex in South Korea.

Wirth currently serves on the Dean's Engineering Advisory Committee at the University of Colorado, and also serves as a Director on the San Francisco 49'ers Foundation and the Tiger Woods Foundation.
