Ball's latest solo album Past and Present is to be released on 9 March 2009 by Universal Music. The album will include a compilation of previously released material celebrating Ball's 25 year anniversary in the music industry. There will be six new tracks, including You Can't Stop the Beat, from Hairspray.

Ball is scheduled to perform in a number of open air concerts in the Summer, including the West Wycombe Music Festival, on Saturday, June 27, at 8 p.m. He will be touring the United Kingdom with his 12-piece band in the Autumn, celebrating 25 years in the music industry.
