Mercedes (also known as Mecha) was the Tourism Minister from Tucumán between 2003 and 2007 until she resigned because of the Alfajores Scandal. Argentinan newspaper La Gaceta published two picutres of a pickup of Secretaría de Turismo downloading boxes of beans in front of her Havanna shop. At the time, she was in Miami with her husband. As she came back, she resigned saying "It was a mistake".
