The company employs over 4,500 people and provides cable access to more than 1.5 million subscribers in 23 states. The company focuses on providing cable coverage to non-metropolitan areas.

The company also offers its customers bundles for its video services combined with Internet or telephone. They promote this bundle as the "VIP package": video, Internet, phone.

It currently provides services in 23 U.S. states including: Alabama, Arizona, California, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.
Sports
Mediacom broadcasts local sports programming on its Connections channel, along with a simulcast of ESPNEWS. The Big Ten Network is officially carried by Mediacom in Big Ten states as of August 30, 2008.
