. Bostrom was elected Sheriff in 2010 by winning over four-term incumbent Bob Fletcher by a 14% margin. In an earlier role as St. Paul Assistant Police Chief, Bostrom, was given the 2009 Preparedness Award by the Association of Minnesota Emergency Responders.

Bostrom has nearly 29 years of prior law enforcement experience at the Saint Paul Police Department, having served in multiple roles including Assistant Chief of Operations. Bostrum has a Doctor of Public Administration degree from Hamline University
